CT 4.0 new year release crash on "2D Clustering (Quick)" or "Clustering by horizontal slices (v5) and (v4)"

Added by Li Jili over 2 years ago

Hi I was trying to test the ONF stem detection (2013) on the sample data (sample_cloud.xyb) with the following simple steps:

1. input xyb
2. Classify ground points - onf
3. 2D Clustering (Quick) - arts.
I repeated three times, the 3rd step crash at the 61%, 66%, and 99% with “CompuTreeGui,exe a cesse de fonctionner”. I also tried different data with different file size, point density, and plot area. Sometime it crash in 58% sometime in 61%, 70% and sometimes it succeeded, there seems no pattern why and under what condition it crashed. It success first time but may fail the second time with exact the same step and parameter when I change a input file, or close and reopen the GUI. I always used default parameter: 3 and 2 cm, and input data is classified vegetation points. similar crash happened even I choose “Clustering by horizontal slices”. My workstation did not out of memory and CUP is not fully occupied.

One question is, when the process crashes, do we need to restart the computer?

Did someone else has similar situation?

Thank you,

Jili

Hi,

yes i just see that it was a problem in computree when we create some element in mutltithread. The plugin arts use multithread so it will crash at some moment. I have applied a patch but you must wait the next beta release to use it without the bug.
