SimpleTree

Added by Walther Christian over 3 years ago

Dear all,

How can I use the SimpleTree plugin? I have no access for downloading it. Since SimpleTree is working only on Linux, I was looking there for it. But it is for both, Windows (7) and Ubuntu 14.04 not available. So for the beginning I tried to run the “HT5_Measuring_DBH_automatically.xsct2” script. But I don’t get different coloured slices. Any idea?

Thank you in advance and best wishes
Christian

Dear Christian,

The SimpleTree integration in Computree is a work in progress.
So it will be available with next official release, in coming months.

For the script “HT5_Measuring_DBH_automatically.xsct2” (which don’t use SimpleTree), it would be necessary to explore more in details what doesn’t work.

Best regards.

Dear Alexandre,

Thank you for your answer. Good to know that the SimpleTree plugin is not finished yet, so I will try out the available functions.
I imported the “HT5_Measuring_DBH_automatically.xsct2” and run it. According to the tutorial “OE_StepHorizontalClustering04”, the result should display different colored points (slices), but they have just one color (or colored according to the intensity).

I solved the color problem. Sorry for the question.
But how should I preprocess my pointcloud for import in Computree? A text file with xyz coordinates, e.g. 348386.832 7231892.218 365.980 displays nothing in the viewer.

How did you solve the problem of color? I am having the same problem. Also if you know how to calculate DBH manually through Computree please share. The DBH calculation automatically is not that accurate in my case probably because of the dense point clouds.
I look forward to hear from you.

Thanks in advance

It is probably because in the current downloadable version of Computree, xyz data are stored in floats (7 significant digits).
The coming version is able to manage any kind of coordinates, in a more comfortable way.

With the current version you should :

1) Either envisage to apply a translation to have the center of your cloud near (0,0,0).

2) Or use the coordinate offset button (before importing data) :

  • Click the button and define coordinates (for you I propose something like: 348400 for X and 7231900 for Y)
  • Load your data
  • If nothing visible, click on the fitting button of the view to adjust camera

Best regards.

Greetings from Nepal,
I am having problem in loading HT4_Measuring_DBH_manually.xsct2 file. I want to measure the DBH manually. What should i do?
Help me out.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

You can try this version of the script :

HT4_Measuring_DBH_manually_v2.xsct2

In this script you have an interactive step, giving you the possibility to manually select circles on trunks.
Note that you can add the cloud to the view of this step (using model manager) to easily recognize trees.

Best regards.

Hello Alexandre,
I loaded the file you attached. It worked but when i try to manually put the circles to measure the DBH it just doesn’t. Am i missing some steps. I am using the latest version of Computree v3.191 on windows 10.
I look forward to hear from you.

Hello,

In the toolbar of the interactive step, you can see that for selecting one circle you have to maintain SHIFT key while selecting with mouse.
Did you try it ?

Regards,
Alexandre.

Hello ,
Yes, i pressed the Shift Key. There were already many circles there. Do i have to select from those preexisting circles? I did that and selected some and extracted in csv but i didn’t find the csv file anywhere.

You have to reconfigure export step to choose the file you want.

Okay. I got it. I now obtained the results. Thank you so much.
Do you know about georeferencing the point clouds. I have the point cloud in .xyb format but these are not georeferenced data.

Thank you so much

Suman
